Tragedy struck in Lagos as an auto crash between a commercial bus and a truck resulted in the instant deaths of three individuals. The incident occurred near Charly Boy bus stop in Gbagada, prompting swift response from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
Upon receiving a distress call at 22:01hrs, LASEMA activated its Emergency Response Plans, reaching the accident site at 22:17hrs. The crash involved a white commercial bus with registration number JJJ-844YA, fully loaded with 18 passengers and traveling from Oshodi to Ajah. The bus lost control while in motion, colliding with a moving truck from behind. Tragically, two men and one woman, all adults, lost their lives instantly, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.
LASEMA’s paramedics promptly administered pre-hospital care to the injured, ferrying three of them to Gbagada General Hospital for further treatment. The deceased were prepared for transfer to the morgue by the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU). Additionally, a Light Tow Truck was deployed to remove the vehicles from the road, preventing potential secondary incidents.
The incident drew a coordinated response from various agencies, including the LASEMA Response Team, LASEMA Pre-Hospital Care Team, Nigeria Police, and Lagos Fire and Rescue Services. The tragic accident highlights the importance of road safety and the need for continued efforts to prevent such devastating incidents on the roads.
