In a significant development, Abubakar Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman, North, of the All Progressives Party (APC), has assumed control of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) following the reported resignation of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s National Chairman. The resignation of Adamu, which had been widely reported over the weekend, was said to have been submitted in a resignation letter to Sen. Iyola Omisore, the party’s National Secretary.
On Monday morning, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Mr. Kyari, accompanied by seven other members of the APC NWC, convened a meeting in his office. It was observed that the official car of the Deputy National Chairman was parked in the slot reserved for Adamu, the party’s National Chairman. The attendees included Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu, National Vice-Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman, National Vice-Chairman (North East) Salihu Mustapha, National Vice-Chairman (North Central) Muazu Bawa, National Vice-Chairman (South West) Issacs Kekemeke, National Vice-Chairman (South East) Ejoroma Arodiogu, and the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Mr. Festus Fuanter.
Security measures have been heightened around the party’s National Secretariat located on Blantrye Street in Wuse two, Abuja. Those entering the street have been subjected to rigorous checks, and passers-by have been stopped for questioning.
