Tragic events unfolded in Kidandan village, Giwa Local Government Area of the state, as Abdullahi Haruna, a brave resident, lost his life at the hands of bandits. The incident occurred on Wednesday around 2:00 p.m. at Sabo Layi Kidandan, a location now marked by a heartbreaking tale of sacrifice and tragedy.

Haruna met his untimely demise after courageously delivering a ransom to secure the release of a fellow villager kidnapped by the bandits. According to accounts from witnesses, the bandits had demanded a ransom for one of their captives. In a selfless act of community solidarity, Haruna volunteered to transport the money to the criminals, aiming to secure the safe release of the kidnapped individual.

However, in a cruel twist of fate, the bandits, after receiving the ransom, attempted to force Haruna off his motorcycle, intending to abduct him as well. Haruna, displaying immense bravery, resisted their advances, standing his ground and asserting that he was only there to deliver the ransom. Tragically, his courageous defiance cost him his life. The bandits, showing no mercy, shot him in broad daylight, in full view of the horrified onlookers at Sabon Layi.

This incident serves as a somber reminder of the challenges faced by communities living in areas plagued by insecurity and banditry. Haruna’s sacrifice underscores the bravery of individuals who, in the face of danger, step forward to protect and support their fellow community members. His tragic fate also highlights the urgent need for comprehensive measures to ensure the safety and security of residents in vulnerable regions, to prevent more heart-wrenching incidents like this in the future.

Efforts to reach out to the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, were unfortunately unsuccessful, leaving the community and concerned citizens waiting for official updates on the incident and, hopefully, action to prevent such heartbreaking events from happening again.
