“Six Soldiers Killed, Captain Abducted in Bandit Ambush in Niger State Communities”

“In a tragic incident, suspected bandits ambushed and killed six soldiers while abducting one captain in communities within the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State. The affected areas include Roro, Karaga, and Rumace in Bassa Ward, Shiroro Local Government Area.

According to reports from Daily Trust, the soldiers had responded to a distress call, leaving their camps at Allawa and Erena. However, they were ambushed by armed bandits upon reaching Roro village. In addition to the soldiers, a hunter and two farmers lost their lives in the attack, while houses, food banks, and motorcycles were set ablaze by the bandits.

Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on Friday and lasted for hours, with the bandits shooting sporadically as they moved through the communities. Mustapha Bassa, a resident, described the invaders arriving on motorcycles and unleashing chaos.

Confirming the attack, Commissioner for Homeland Security, Bello Mohammed, assured that efforts were underway to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice. He emphasized the government’s commitment to addressing insecurity issues and providing support to the affected communities.
