Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru of the All Progressives Congress representing Kwara South has been declared the new Deputy Leader of the Senate by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio.
Senator Akpabio made the announcement at plenary on Wednesday while announcing the appointment of Senator Nwebonyi Onyeka as the new Deputy Chief Whip of the house.
The office of the Deputy Leader of the senate became vacant following the appointment of Senator Dave Umahi as Minister of Works by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Therefore, Senator Ashiru who was the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate is to henceforth, take the position of the Deputy Leader of the Senate while the position of deputy Chief Whip which became vacant due to senator Ahiru’s elevation is to henceforth, be occupied by Senator Onyeka.
