EFCC arrests Abuja-based musician for alleged internet fraud

An Abuja based musician, Aniji Shedrack Chidubem otherwise known as Sanij-D has been reportedly arrested by Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, over alleged internet fraud activities.

Chidubem is being charged for allegedly defrauding a Briton, Christopher Rossi and an American, Diana Rosado Gonzalax the sum of £9,300 and $2,000 respectively.

According to a statement released Tuesday by the EFCC, the suspect utilized some popular social media platforms to impersonate a certain marine engineer identified as Christopher Rossi and defrauded the victims adding that the suspect will be charged to court for furtherance of the quest for justice for the victims.

The statement read in part:

“He was arrested in the Kuje Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, based on credible intelligence on the activities of a syndicate of internet fraudsters. Chidubem allegedly impersonated one Christopher Rossi, a marine engineer that fixes boats and pipelines in Singapore. He was using Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp applications, with foreign phone numbers, as his fraudulent means of perpetrating and defrauding his victims.

“He will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement read.
