Emir of Kano Urges Remi Tinubu: “Nigerians Are Hungry”

In a significant exchange during her recent visit to Kano, Nigeria’s first lady, Oluremi Tinubu, received a poignant message from the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero. The emir requested Mrs. Tinubu to relay a crucial message to her husband, President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the prevailing hunger experienced by Nigerians.

The plea came during Mrs. Tinubu’s courtesy visit to the emir, which coincided with her participation in the commissioning of a faculty building at the Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) in Kano.

Expressing the urgency of the matter, Emir Ado-Bayero highlighted the significance of Mrs. Tinubu’s personal communication with President Tinubu, stressing that formal channels might not convey the message as effectively.

Additionally, Emir Ado-Bayero addressed concerns regarding the reported relocation of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) from Abuja to Lagos. He called for transparency from the government and emphasized the importance of effective communication with the Nigerian populace on such matters.

In response, Mrs. Tinubu urged patience and understanding from Nigerians, assuring them that President Tinubu’s administration is committed to implementing reforms and policies aimed at improving the country’s economic situation. She expressed optimism that with ongoing economic reforms, positive changes would soon be evident.

Mrs. Tinubu also expressed gratitude for the warm reception she received during her visit to Kano, particularly noting the enthusiastic welcome from school children along her route.
