Explosion Rocks Ibadan – Makinde Sues for Calm

Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State, experienced an unusual explosion on Tuesday around 8 pm in the Bodija area. The impact was felt in neighboring areas such as Agodi, Gate, Sango, Apete, Eleyele, and other parts of the city.

The incident occurred on Deji Oyelese Street, Adeyi Avenue, Bodija. Witnesses, including some State Secretariat workers, reported that the explosion caused windows to shake and scattered debris in nearby offices.

In response, Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde urged residents to remain calm. According to a statement from Prince Dotun Oyelese, the Commissioner for Information, the governor has deployed all security service chiefs, including para-military leaders and fire operatives, to manage the aftermath of the explosion.

Governor Makinde reassured citizens that the situation is under control, with security personnel, anti-bomb experts, and other agencies mobilized to the incident site. While the cause of the explosion is yet to be determined, injured individuals are being transported to nearby hospitals for treatment, and the government is actively addressing the situation.
