The palace of the emir of Minna, Umar Faruk Bahago, was targeted by suspected armed robbers on Tuesday, resulting in the theft of an undisclosed amount of money. The armed robbers reportedly tracked the emir’s official, who had recently made withdrawals from a commercial bank.

Two palace guards sustained gunshot wounds during the incident and are currently receiving medical treatment at the General Hospital in Minna. Garba Musa, the secretary of the Minna Emirate Council, confirmed the attack and described how the sound initially seemed like children playing until people started shouting about the presence of thieves.

The gunmen managed to break through the second gate and gain access to the emir’s residence, but did not proceed to the area where the emir was located. Instead, they fired shots into the air and eventually made off with the stolen money. Mr. Musa affirmed that the stolen funds belonged to the emirate and informed the police about the incident, who have assured their prompt action to apprehend the criminals involved.
