The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has assured that individuals involved in corruption will have no place to hide in the country. The statement was made during a visit by the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, SAN, in Abuja. Olukoyede emphasized the political will of President Bola Tinubu to tackle economic and financial crimes, ensuring that there will be no immunity for corrupt individuals.
Highlighting the conducive atmosphere created by President Tinubu for anti-graft activities, Olukoyede stressed that no Nigerian is exempt from investigation for any corruption allegations. He expressed confidence in the commitment of the President to do the right thing and acknowledged the support provided for anti-corruption efforts by the EFCC and ICPC.
Olukoyede affirmed the belief that, under President Tinubu’s leadership, there is no room for the corrupt to hide. He emphasized the need for dedication and commitment to supporting the President in the fight against corruption, emphasizing that no one is too influential to escape investigation if found in violation of the rules.
The EFCC Chairman highlighted the importance of collaboration between anti-corruption agencies, noting that the engagement with the ICPC sends a positive signal that these agencies are working together in fellowship. He referred to the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two agencies, which will be a dynamic document, subject to periodic review to accommodate mutual interests.
Dr. Musa Aliyu, in his remarks, emphasized the significance of understanding and synergy between the ICPC and EFCC. He expressed readiness for collaboration and partnership to enhance the fight against corruption in the country. Aliyu acknowledged the existing relationship between the two agencies and advocated for regular meetings to strengthen their collaboration in combating corruption.
