PDP governors in Abuja for emergency meeting over Wike-Fubara saga

Amidst crisis within the government circle in Rivers State, all State Governors under the aegis of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, including the Rivers State Governor, Sim Fubara on Tuesday evening converged in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja for an emergency meeting.

According to reports, the meeting was called for over the current crisis in Rivers State, where some members of the state house of assembly had reportedly initiated plans to impeach the state’s incumbent Governor, Sim Fubara.

Fubara is the duly elected Governor of the state on the platform of the PDP. He was sworn into office same day President Tinubu was also sworn into office – May 29, 2023.

The PDP governors are currently at the Oyo State Governors Lodge in Abuja for the emergency meeting.

As at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that the PDP governors were at the Oyo State Governors Lodge in Abuja for the emergency meeting suspected to be holding due to the impeachment attempts on the Rivers State Governor between Sunday night and Monday morning.

Some of the PDP governors sighted on arrival include Fubara, Bala Mohammed, Bauchi, Caleb Muftwang, Plateau, Dauda Lawal, Zamfara, and Ahmadu Fintiri, Adamawa.

Others are Ademola Adeleke of Osun, Agbu Kefas, Taraba, Godwin Obaseki, Edo and Sheriff Oborevwori, Delta.

Members of the party’s National Working Committee, led by Acting Chairman, Iliya Damagum, also arrived for the meeting.
