According to Prof. Benard Matur, the vice-chancellor of Plateau State University in Bokkos, the university has received a N1.2 billion intervention from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund). In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, the vice-chancellor confirmed that the grant was the normal and zonal intervention for the year 2023. This funding will contribute to the university’s development and support its academic programs and infrastructure.
According to Prof. Benard Matur, the vice-chancellor of Plateau State University in Bokkos, the university is grateful to TETFund for granting them over N1.2 billion as a normal and zonal intervention for the 2023 allocation. He mentioned that the funds are being utilized for the construction of a 1,000-capacity female hostel and the development of the Information Communication Technology (ICT) unit.
Mr. Matur further stated that TETFund has provided scholarships for 64 academic and non-academic staff of the university, both within and outside the country. Additionally, he mentioned that the university has introduced 25 new academic programs, complementing the existing 17 programs. These developments contribute to the growth and advancement of Plateau State University.
Prof. Benard Matur mentioned that the newly introduced programs at Plateau State University would be offered at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Additionally, he stated that plans have been concluded for the establishment of a School of Business Studies, which will offer diploma, postgraduate, masters, and doctorate programs in various disciplines.
The vice-chancellor emphasized the university’s commitment to maintaining high academic standards. He expressed his belief that this focus on quality education would enable the university’s graduates to excel and compete effectively in society.
