President Bola Tinubu, along with other Nigerian Muslims, participated in the Eid-el-Kabir prayers held at the Dodan Barracks Praying Ground in Lagos.
Among those accompanying the president were Nuhu Ribadu, the National Security Adviser; Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President; Babatunde Fashola, a former Lagos State Governor; and other high-ranking government officials.
During the sermon, delivered by the Chief Imam of Lagos, Sheikh Suleiman Abu-Nolah, it was emphasized that the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir promotes the values of sacrifice, unity, and tolerance among the Muslim community.
“The religion does not condone selfishness, intolerance, or division,” stated Sheikh Suleiman Abu-Nolah, the Chief Imam of Lagos, during his sermon. He urged the Muslim community to use the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir to reflect on the various challenges facing the country and seek rectification through prayer to God Almighty.
The Chief Imam also offered prayers for the ongoing peace, progress, and stability of Nigeria, while emphasizing the importance of embracing the values exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
Femi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos State, encouraged all Nigerians to continue praying for the well-being of the country.
“We have a duty as citizens to make sacrifices for our nation, as prayer and love are integral parts of that duty. It is through these actions that our nation can achieve greatness,” stated Femi Gbajabiamila during his speech.
He emphasized that the President would continue to instill hope in Nigerians by implementing policies that prioritize the well-being of the people. Gbajabiamila further expressed that the President would require the prayers of Nigerians to successfully carry out various initiatives aimed at realizing the vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers.
“As the President returns to Abuja and travels throughout Nigeria, he will need your prayers. The challenges ahead are significant, but with the prayers and support of all Nigerians, the President will undoubtedly overcome them,” he added.
