SOLDIERS INVOLVED IN TORTURE IN VIRAL VIDEO ARRESTED

The Headquarters of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, expresses deep dismay over the unprofessional behavior exhibited by two of its personnel captured in a viral video brutalizing a civilian in Rivers State. The implicated soldiers have been promptly identified and arrested.

The 6 Division emphasizes that the Nigerian Army remains committed to professionalism, adhering to established rules of engagement, and respecting the fundamental human rights of citizens. Any misconduct by personnel will not be tolerated.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander of Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, has directed an immediate full-scale investigation. He assures that all those involved will face appropriate sanctions, leaving no room for impunity.

The public is encouraged to continue providing credible information about such unprofessional conduct, as the 6 Division is determined to enhance its responsiveness to the public. This incident is viewed as an unfortunate and isolated case, and swift action will be taken to address it.
