President Bola Tinubu served as the Special Guest of Honour at the change of Guards ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Sunday as part of the 63rd Independence Anniversary celebrations under the theme “Nigeria @63, Renewed Hope for Unity and Prosperity.”
During the event, President Tinubu, alongside other members of the administration, reviewed various activities, including the Submission of Parade, Independence Anniversary Parade, and Guards Brigade Silent Drill. The event was attended by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, the Chief Justice of the Federation, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Ministers, Head of the Civil Service, Permanent Secretaries, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
As part of the festivities, there were activities such as signing the anniversary register, cutting the anniversary cake, and releasing anniversary pigeons.
In his address to the nation, President Tinubu emphasized the administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare, the deployment of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cars to reduce transportation costs, and fiscal policies aimed at attracting businesses and creating employment opportunities for the youth. He acknowledged the challenges and hardships faced by Nigerians but stressed the importance of enduring these difficulties for the sake of achieving a better future for Nigeria.
President Tinubu also highlighted the unity and diversity of Nigeria, emphasizing that the country stands strong despite its diverse ethnic groups, religions, traditions, and cultures. He called on all Nigerians to rally around the administration’s initiatives for a better Nigeria, emphasizing the need for courage, compassion, and commitment in achieving the nation’s goals.
