Tinubu says democracy must be nurtured for progress

President Bola Tinubu reiterated the significance of democracy as the bedrock of progress and development in Nigeria and Africa during his meeting with the Senate leaders in Abuja. He emphasized the need to nurture and sustain democracy to send a strong message to the international community, demonstrating Nigeria’s commitment to democratic governance and its determination to make genuine strides.

As the newly elected Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu expressed his gratitude for the unexpected and unanimous vote of confidence from his fellow leaders in the region. He considered his election as an “additional responsibility” that he must bear for the betterment of Africa. He acknowledged the importance of the encouragement he has received and acknowledged that this recognition brings with it the need for more hard work.

Tinubu assured the Senate leaders and the Nigerian people that he would not disappoint in the discharge of his duties, despite the challenges currently faced by the country.
