The Muhammadu Buhari University of Transportation, located in Daura, Katsina State, is poised to commence academic activities pending approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC). The university’s inaugural Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Umar Adam-Katsayal, confirmed the institution’s readiness during a visit by an NUC delegation responsible for resource verification.

Prof. Adam-Katsayal assured the delegation that all necessary requirements for launching academic activities had been fulfilled. He stated that the university had provided all essential facilities and equipment required for the commencement of classes. Expressing their readiness for the 2023/2024 academic session, the Vice-Chancellor mentioned that the university had proposed around 10 academic programs for its initial offerings.

Following their inspection, John Mairafi, a Director at the NUC’s Executive Secretary’s office and leader of the delegation, expressed satisfaction with the facilities and infrastructure present at the university. He noted that while the institution had met the required standards, the final approval was contingent upon the delegation’s report.

In addition to their assessment duties, the Vice-Chancellor and the NUC team paid courtesy visits to former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk-Umar, further underlining the university’s collaborative spirit within the community.
